Who am I?

Healthcare Matters was started by Noor Chowdhary, a teenager who has lived in San Mateo County her whole life. Through her various involvements with her community, she has noticed differences, even by city, in the needs of the people living there. This, combined with her interest in public health, has led her to create this website in hopes to provide people with a comprehensive resource dedicated to exploring critical issues at the intersection of public health, healthcare, and immigration. The website is designed to inform, educate, and inspire through a diverse range of content that includes insightful blog posts, valuable resources, and in-depth research.

Noor is currently the Chair of The San Mateo County Youth Commission which is an advisory commission to the San Mateo County Board of Supervisors, established in 1993 to address youth need in the county and provide youth voice in local government. The Commission consists of up to 25 members, between the ages of 13-21, who reside in San Mateo County. As Chair, she leads the commission meetings by facilitating discussions, creating agendas, and fostering an open and collaborative environment among commissioners. She represents the Youth Commission at various town halls and speaker events (such as paneling for a youth town hall moderated by Assembly Member Marc Berman) spreading awareness of youth issues and advocating for the youth of San Mateo County.

Noor attends San Mateo High School and is also a member of the APHA (American Public Health Association).
